Finale (Omnia Vincit Amor)

And love, conquers it all.

Finale (Omnia Vincit Amor) (2024) represents the culmination of Stefano Contiero’s artistic journey from 2021 to 2024, synthesizing themes of fragmentation, community, and love that have defined his practice. Created for the conclusion of Bright Moments’ three-year global tour, this collection embodies everything the artist has learned about generative art as both individual expression and collective experience. The work emerges from a unique collaborative framework where 60 artists contributed algorithms to a shared on-chain generative system, with parameters fixed on-chain and artist algorithms sampled via shared minting logic, resulting in Contiero’s contribution being selected sixteen times from 1,000 randomly generated outputs.

These final compositions bring together elements from across his entire practice: the geometric fragments recall Frammenti (2021)'s exploration of memory, the dynamic arrangements echo the gestural energy of Abbondanza (2023), while the collaborative framework extends the community-driven approach pioneered in Grailers (2022). Rectangular shards, perfect circles, delicate linear drawings, dance across digital space in configurations that range from chaotic accumulation to contemplative arrangement. These works feel simultaneously personal and universal, structured yet spontaneous.

Finale’s profound significance lies in its embodiment of love as creative force. The title “Omnia Vincit Amor” (Love Conquers All) reflects Contiero’s belief that genuine artistic practice emerges from love: love for the medium, for community, for the endless possibilities of creative connection. Following the introspective fragmentation of Disconnected (2024) and the machine learning intimacy of Battito (2023), this collection suggests that the ultimate purpose of generative art lies not in technical innovation but in fostering human bonds and shared experience.

Presented during the 2024 Venice Biennale as Bright Moments’ European finale, the work completes a poetic journey “from Venice to Venice,” connecting the project’s West Coast origins to its European conclusion. The future of generative art lies in communities built on mutual support, creative generosity, and, above all, love.
